The WIP is finally ready to send back to the agent. I'm giving myself a day to let it rest before I do so. Feel so much better about the whole process now. And yes it was worth all the frustration, anger, fear, worry, despair, in the end. Will see how she likes it and go from there.
I have just completed my first ever 8km run this morning. My legs are like jelly (jello for my American friends), my heart rate has finally come down to an acceptable level, and I'm feeling like I've done something good in the world today. My goal in September is to complete a half marathon, thus the training. I'm using Dean Karnazes "Marathon Training" program, he's the guru so I'll take his advice and follow it. Next week I'm scheduled to complete a 10km run, but in the meantime this week I've got three 5km runs and one 6km run. I know some people might think I'm crazy and at times I wonder that myself, but it's the program so I'll give it a go.
Running is a lot like writing (well not really if you compare sweat levels). You start off with great intentions, then somewhere towards the middle you feel like it's never going to end. You keep plodding along trying to pace yourself so the story's not lost. Then you see the end in sight and think I can keep going, just get to that finish line. And then when you're there someone says "oh you're a bit short, you need to run another 500 metres to truly finish this" so you sigh, mumble a few swearwords under your breath and churn out the last 500. The euphoria doesn't hit there and then, no, it waits until you're sprawled out underneath the fan trying to wipe the sweat pouring into your eyes. It's then that you realise you did it. You completed something that not too many people have done. Something you thought impossible before!
